The Kusama ecosystem is blooming with the launch of parachains. Moonriver is the Kusama version of Moonbeam and is the first of three parachains on Kusama. Moonriver is focused on bringing EVM based applications to its ecosystem and has already enlisted many prominent DeFi applications to build on its platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some of the questions our community has asked us. Get in touch if there’s more you would like to know.

Moonriver is the Kusama version of Moonbeam. It focused on being a fully Ethereum-compatible parachain on Kusama. Moonriver’s mainnet has launched in August 2021. To learn more, please read their documentation.

New blocks on Moonriver are proposed by validators. To enable Moonriver to run seamlessly, validators need the technical capabilities to offer a secure, always on infrastructure.

Not everyone is able to do this. Some token holders participate indirectly by delegating the tokens they have to a validator. Validators are running a service for delegators. They typically charge a fee to cover their operational costs.

By delegating MOVR, you help secure the network. You get part of the rewards provided by the protocol for this assistance. If you are planning to hold on to MOVR for some time, delegating will help you accumulate more MOVR while contributing to the health of the network.

You are not giving away ownership of MOVR by delegating. As a validator, stakefish will never have the ability to move your MOVR.

We charge 20% from the block rewards received by our delegators. For example, if a delegator receives 100 MOVR as a reward, stakefish will receive 20 MOVR while the delegator will get 80 MOVR.

Undelegating (also called unbonding or unstaking) can be done anytime.

Delegators can nominate multiple validators. Please check in on Moonbeam’s Discord for the latest maximum number of validators you can nominate. The network will automatically then try to maximize your stake through the nominated validators.

Another factor to keep in mind is that there is a maximum number of delegators that a validator can receive. Please check in on Moonbeam's Discord for the latest delegator cap per validator. It's important to nominate validators that have not met this cap, else wise you may not earn rewards.

We recommend you nominate multiple validators including our stakefish validator rather than nominating only one.
